If you’ve been following us for a while now then I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of Brittany Webber. We’ve been working with her for close to seven years now, and she’s become one of our go-to girls when we have new ideas to try in the studio. She was one of the models I got to meet when I worked for Halifax Boudoir back when we were at the Argyle studio (Read: http://halifaxboudoir.ca/remember-me/.) I thought it would be fun to interview her now that I’m back to see what she’s been up to over the last couple of years. Keep reading to learn more about Brittany and some of her best tips & tricks for the everyday woman.
Question 1: Like many people, I follow you on Instagram and you always look so beautiful and confident in all of your photos. What advice do you have for women who struggle with confidence behind the camera?
For me, feeling confident in front of the camera came with time. I think that you have to remember how beautiful and strong you are, and then show that off to the camera. Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks. You’re doing a photo shoot for you, so forget about what anyone else might think and enjoy your moment!
Question 2: I’ve always wanted to be a morning person who had a full routine before 9am, however it’s definitely not one of my strong suits. Would you consider yourself to be a morning person? If so, do you have a morning routine that you live by?
I am definitely NOT a morning person. I hit snooze on my alarm six million times. So my morning routines consist of making a coffee and running around the house like a crazy person trying to find my keys and get out the door because I’m now fifteen minutes late.
Question 3: Getting up earlier and accomplishing more in the morning is actually one of my New Year’s resolutions. Do you have any New Year’s resolutions for 2018?
My New Years resolution for this year, like many people, is to eat healthier and workout more consistently. For me this means eating more veggies and protein, and making sure I get my butt to the gym at least five days a week
Question 4: How would you describe your experience with boudoir photo shoots to someone who is considering doing one? (Specifically, with Halifax Boudoir.)
Boudoir shoots are some of my favourite photo shoots to do. They always make me feel so empowered and sexy. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jenn and her team at Halifax Boudoir quite a few times now. The Halifax Boudoir team is very passionate and professional with all of their clients. Jenn always make me feel very comfortable, confident, and beautiful during the photo shoot. It’s always so much fun!
Question 5: Every woman deserves to treat herself. I treat myself more then I would like to admit, by dining out or indulging in a nice glass (bottle) of wine. How do you like to treat yourself?
Chocolate is by far my favourite go to treat. Although, I must admit I also do love to treat myself by going shopping and picking up something I’ve had my eye on.
Question 6: Staying active is really hard this time of year. It’s cold and all I want to do is stay in bed watching Netflix and eating warm cookies. Are you someone who likes to stay active? If so, how do you motivate yourself when you’re really not in the mood?
I love staying active! Of course there are some days when all I want to do is lay on the couch and not move, but I know once I get myself to the gym I won’t regret it. Getting yourself to the gym is half the battle. I’ve recently gotten into spin classes and I’m OBSESSED! It’s a great way to sweat it out while jamming to some of my favourite songs.
Question 7: I think everyone can agree that there should definitely be more hours in a day. Even though, I feel like I would just end up procrastinating more then I already do. If you never had to sleep again, what would you do with all of the extra time?
If I had more hours in a day I would start checking out some of the newer restaurants I haven’t tried yet. Halifax has so many new restaurants open each year, and I somehow never get around to trying them.
Question 8: Obviously, you’re a super cool person, which is why we wanted to interview you. Who do you think had the biggest influence on the person you’ve become today?
Aw thank you! But if you guys think I’m cool, you really must meet my mom. She’s easily the largest influence on me, and the woman I want to become. She always reminds me to not dwell on the dark side of things, but look for the light and build around it.
Question 9: If you could go back and give “16 year old you” one piece of advice based on what you know today, what would it be?
Dear 16 year old Brittany, the world can be unkind at times. Do your best to treat everyone, even those you don’t agree with or even don’t like very much, with kindness and respect. Oh, and when mom tells you to never go to sleep with your makeup on listen to her! Taking care of your skin is so important!
Question 10: Last question! As I’m sure you know, life can get in the way of us really taking care of ourselves. What is your favourite way to practice self-care and what would you recommend to all the ladies reading this?
I truly believe self-care is so important. Sometimes you need to put yourself first and take as much time as you need to regroup. On busier days my self-care moments are just picking up nice latte at Starbucks or taking a few extra minutes in the morning to put together a nice outfit I feel confident in, rather than grabbing one of my quick go to outfits I wear all the time. When I have more time to schedule for my self I love heading to the spa for a massage. It really helps me relax and let go all the silly little things that have been on my mind.
