A few months ago I was contacted to do a pinup/boudoir photo shoot. The anniversary was coming up for the client and her husband and she wanted to do something special, so she decided to do a pin up calendar.
I met with her on Friday to discuss the details and we did the shoot on Sunday. She had all different types of costumes including a nurse’s uniform, an army uniform, school girl, various types of leather outfits and feather boas. We thought it would be a great idea to try to get an outfit for each month.
We hired makeup artist Rebecca Mercer and model coach Kyla Nicolle. If this is your first time doing a photo shoot and you’re not sure how to pose, having a model coach there to advise you is one of the best things to spend a few extra dollars on. Kyla is a pinup and boudoir model herself, so she was the perfect person to hire for this shoot. She worked with my client to help her feel more relaxed and showed her some great poses.
The client had not decided on who would create the calendar so I checked out a few different companies and found that http://www.mixbook.com/ had the most user friendly interface, great prices (starting at $19.99) and shipped within 1-3 days. I started putting a few photos into their calendar wizard and was quite pleased with the results. Especially since you could start the calendar at any month, which was perfect for the client since her anniversary was in July.
If you would like to book a calendar shoot for you or your significant other or get information on hiring the makeup artist or model coach I used for this shoot, please contact me for info.
