New purchases for the studio mean new photo shoots! Last month I purchased a new bed for the studio, so of course that meant testing it out with a new shoot. I asked Leigh Ann to come over for a few hours to help me with some new poses and to see if I liked the new bedroom area in the studio. At the time I decided to move the bedroom area into one of the smaller rooms in the studio but immediately realized how difficult it was to shoot in such a small space. I do have a full frame sensor, but even with the 50mm, it was still tight, and I didn’t like the distorted look I got from using the 24-70mm. So after this shoot, I moved the bedroom back into the main area of the studio.
A few days prior to the shoot we hit up Indulgence Intimate Apparel in downtown Dartmouth to grab a few outfits for our shoot – a super cute blue baby doll that went well with the light colors in our studio, and a sexy black lace body suit that we used on the sofa. Shannon and Barb are so helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to the right fit and the right style for your body. Last weekend we went over to pick up some outfits for a video promo shoot we did (more on that in a later post) and the look I had in mind was completely different than what we walked out with. What I thought would look great on our models actually didn’t flatter their body types at all, and I was so glad that we had Barb there to guide us and help us choose the right fit. Thanks Barb!
In addition to Leigh Ann and I trying out the new shooting space, I wanted to tighten up my shooting time, so I put together a shot list and a time limit. 60 minutes and about 20 different poses. From the 20 key poses, I had several varieties that I wanted to try. I managed to get all of our usual poses and a few new ones as well. Which is important when you have limited shooting space as we did here.
After exhausting all of the typical “bedroom” poses, we moved out into the other part of the studio to the sofa and the “hair flip corner”. We got our signature white sheet poses and our #tushyTuesday shot and then finished up with some window light. One of our most popular pieces that we keep at the studio for clients to use is a fur shawl a client loaned us. This was actually one of my most favorite from the session.
Here are my favorites from my shoot with Leigh Ann. Which are your favorites?
