Last week I received a call from a client who needed to get in for a booking as soon as possible. Occasionally we do get last minute requests, but this one was different.
I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and they are doing the mastectomy on Tuesday.
Heart meet throat. Those words hit me like a ton of bricks and I immediately started tearing up. My client seemed so nonchalant about it and I was a complete basket case. I couldn’t even imagine what she was going through, but I feel like she had accepted the fact and was ready for the fight of her life. She knew that it was important to document this stage in her life and wanted to have some beautiful portraits of her breasts that she could look back on to show her just how hard she fought for her life.
We started with a few that included a cute cardigan that I picked up from Le Chateau. Something that she would be ok with showing to her friends and family, and she graciously allowed us to share it on our blog. We also took some classic images of her breasts and then ended the session with one of our most popular options for boudoir sessions – the white sheet. It’s just so timeless and elegant. I snapped a couple more emotive shots and then I asked her for something that showed me how happy she was that she came to see us that day.
Thank you so much for allowing us to be part of this journey with you and we wish you good health in the many years to come!
You can beat breast cancer, but you must be proactive and keep up with self-exams. The faster you catch it, the better chances you have.
