Every day we post to our Facebook page and to our multiple Instagram accounts photos of past boudoir shoots that clients have graciously allowed us to share with the world. Now, most of you probably assume these photos are of paid models that have spent countless hours in front of a camera based on how confident they look. You’re wrong! While we do hire models on occasion for promotional shoots or practice shots, most of the photos that you are seeing day-to-day are just regular, everyday women like you or me.
On the photos we post, we often receive comments like,
“Wow! I would love to do a boudoir shoot but I need to lose a bit of weight first” or “I would love to get a boudoir shoot done some day but I’m too shy!” or even “It’s on my bucket-list, but I don’t feel sexy these days…”
The funny this is, almost every woman you see in the photos we have posted- has said something along the same lines right before their shoot! However, once they seen their photos they couldn’t wait to show others because of how empowered or confident they felt afterwards.
You think you need to lose weight or get in shape first.
This is by far the most common concern we encounter when asking women, “What’s stopping you from booking a shoot?” Many (most) women are insecure about certain parts of their body or even their whole body- it’s our main priority to help change that!
We have worked with ladies who are size 0 and ladies who are size 20+ and neither was more beautiful then the other. The key is wearing proper fitting clothes and knowing when you need to go a size up or a size down. You can even think about wearing pieces that cover or take attention away from the areas that you don’t feel comfortable with. For example- if you aren’t comfortable with your stomach, you can choose a form fitting corset or high-waisted panties.
The other thing to keep in mind is the right pose and camera angle – shooting from the ground up has a much different and less flattering effect then shooting downward from a higher angle. Did you know Jenn even specializes in posing and photographing plus size women? She’ll make you feel like the model you didn’t know you were.
The last thing to consider when thinking you need to tone up or get in shape before coming in is that we live in a society of advanced technology and we do minor retouching on the photographs as a part of our editing process. A little nipping and tucking is generally included (on everyone.) D’on’t expect us to go taking off 50 pounds or anything drastic like that but some of the things we look for when retouching are blemishes, wrinkles, spider veins, minor bulges near bra straps, etc.
You think you’re too shy in front of the camera
You don’t need to be a professional model to have beautiful, intimate and empowering photos of yourself. All you need is to be able to take our direction and guidance! We have photographed all sorts of women, some confident to begin with and others as shy as can be, and each of those women told us that they never felt more beautiful than when they saw their finalized images. Most of our clients are so happy that they end up purchasing more images, referring their friends, booking another shoot or even telling us to post it online to encourage other women do the same! #womensupportingwomen
It’s too expensive
This is another one of the most common reasons for not booking a boudoir shoot with us. We totally get it, at a first glance it may seem like it’s out of your price range so you completely disregard it as an option and look at it as more of a dream. We want you to know that it IS an option, for everyone and totally worth it!
Now, we know there are other photographers out there offering boudoir shoots for much cheaper and offering more photos. Often times, those photographers are less experienced or are offering quantity over quality. You want your boudoir experience to be intimate, luxurious, empowering and something that you’ll want to reflect on- which is our guarantee to you. By booking with us, you’re paying luxury prices for a luxury experience because you deserve it. Jenn has been doing this for a long time, we’ve learned lots over the years and we’ve gotten to a point where we know how to make your experience with us the absolute best it can be.
“But Halifax Boudoir, what exactly am I paying for? I could just save the $600 and get my best friend to take pictures of me on my iPhone?”
It’s true! You could do that, but you won’t get the photos you really want. All of our packages include:
- Professional Hair & Makeup
- Digital images
- Lingerie guides
- 24/7 support when you’re feeling nervous, have questions or need suggestions
- A swanky studio where your photos are taken
- The photographer (Jenn) and/or assistant helping you pose and even getting into the poses with you to make you look and feel 100% comfortable
- A personal shopping experience with Jenn if you wish to go out to buy new lingerie where she’ll teach you how to save money when shopping for something sexy, how to fit your lingerie properly and more.
- An overall intimate and empowering experience that will transform your confidence forever
- A viewing session where Jenn will help you narrow down all the photos she took to your absolute favourites
- The option to customize your packages
- And more…
As you can see, it’s more then just a photo shoot- it’s a total experience. By now, if you have justified the price but are thinking that you generally just can’t afford it- we understand that too! Life is expensive and you can’t always drop that kind of money at once which is why we can offer you payment plans. If this is something that interests you, reach out to us and we would be thrilled to work something out that is good for everyone.

You don’t own any lingerie or aren’t sure what you would wear
This is one of our favourite parts of the boudoir shoot, helping clients decide what they should wear during their session. We offer a complimentary lingerie guide that is availible to you as soon as you book your shoot with us. So, don’t worry about that because we’re experts in lingerie.
“…but Halifax Boudoir, it’s not that I don’t know what to wear- it’s that I don’t own any lingerie!”
Again, no problem! You have 2 options. Your first option is to take advantage of our complimentary personal shopping experience with Jenn. If you choose to go out and pick up some new, sexy lingerie but don’t know where to begin- she’ll come with you and help you to save money as well as find something form-flattering that will photograph well in the studio. Your second option is to wear something you already own, it doesn’t have to be lingerie. Check out our website, lingerie guide or ask us to see some examples of boudoir photos where they aren’t wearing lingere! Some non-lingerie options that are still really sexy include…
- Nude – either full nudity or implied nude, meaning covering with a sheet or using light to create silhouettes, etc.
- A t-shirt or sweater and panties, one of our favourites
- A pair of unbuttoned jeans
- A bodysuit
- Your partners favourite button down shirt
- A leather jacket and panties
You think you’re too old.
This is one we get quite often, and frankly we don’t think it’s a valid excuse. We’ve shot boudoir photos of women in their 20’s and women in their 60’s and they all looked like goddesses. We think women get more beautiful with age, so why not treat yourself and celebrate all that you’ve accomplished. If you’re still not convinced, check out this blog post of this sexy woman rocking it at 60.
